Poultry Policy

 

This Poultry Policy governs all purchases and pickups of chicks and live poultry from Nate’s Chicks (“Nate’s Chicks,” “we,” “us,” “our”). By placing an order, you (“customer,” “you”) acknowledge and agree to the terms below.


1) Minimum Order Requirement          

  • A minimum purchase of three (3) chicks per order applies. 
  • Orders that do not meet the minimum may be delayed or cancelled at our discretion to align with hatch logistics and animal welfare best practices.


 2) No Returns or Replacements After Pickup

  • All sales of live poultry are final once picked up.  
  • Once chicks or poultry leave our location, there are no replacements, returns, refunds, or exchanges for any reason. 
  • All chicks and poultry are released to the customer visibly healthy and vaccinated for Marek’s at time of pickup.


 3) Payment and Refund Policy

  • All payments are nonrefundable, except as outlined under the cancellation section below. 
  • If an order is cancelled outside the permitted cancellation window, it is nonrefundable.
     

4) Hatch-Day Availability and Substitutions

We do our best to fulfill every order exactly as placed. However, hatch rates and fertility can vary, and some breeds may be unavailable on hatch day.

If a breed is unavailable:

  • We will attempt to contact you to discuss substitutions, rescheduling, quantity adjustments, or other options. 
  • We never substitute breeds without your permission. 
  • Customers are strongly encouraged to check their text messages prior to pickup day. 
  • Customers may also leave substitution preferences in the order notes at checkout to streamline decision-making if availability changes.

 

5) Cancellations and Processing Fees

  • Orders may be cancelled up to twenty-one (21) calendar days before the scheduled pickup date. 
  • Approved cancellations (outside the 21-day window) are subject to a processing fee of 15% or $15, whichever is greater. 
  • Cancellation requests within 21 days of the scheduled pickup date are nonrefundable.
     

6) Pickup Requirements and Unclaimed Orders

  • Customers must pick up their poultry on the scheduled pickup date. 
  • A confirmation text with pickup instructions, time, and location will be sent a few days prior to the scheduled date. 
  • Unclaimed orders may be forfeited without refund.

 

7) Customer Care Responsibility and Health Disclaimer

Once poultry leaves our care, the customer assumes full responsibility.

  • Nate’s Chicks is not responsible for deaths or losses resulting from: 
    • customer handling, 
    • improper brooder setup, 
    • inadequate heat, bedding, feed, or water, 
    • extreme weather conditions, orother conditions outside our control. 
  • It is the customer’s responsibility to have appropriate heat, bedding, feed, and water ready upon arrival.
     

8) Sexed Poultry Accuracy

  • Sexed poultry (pullets or cockerels) is sold with a 90% sexing accuracy guarantee. 
  • Due to the nature of chick sexing, no provider can guarantee 100% accuracy.

 

9) Hatch and Pickup Date Delays

While we work to meet scheduled hatch and pickup dates, delays may occur due to factors including:

  • fertility rates, 
  • hatch rates, and 
  • weather or conditions impacting delivery schedules and bird welfare. 

If a delay occurs:

  • Customers will be notified as soon as possible. 
  • Nate’s Chicks is not liable for damages, costs, or losses resulting from delays.

 

10) Biosecurity and Farm Access

To protect the health and safety of our birds and customers, Nate’s Chicks follows strict biosecurity protocols:

  • We do not accept returns of live poultry under any circumstances. 
  • Public access to the poultry farm is not permitted. 
  • These measures are in place to maintain a clean, disease-free environment and uphold the highest standards of flock health.
     

11) Contact and Communication

Text messaging is a key operational channel for order coordination.

  • Please ensure your phone number is accurate at checkout. 
  • Customers are encouraged to monitor text messages leading up to pickup day for any updates or required confirmations.
